Project Description

The retail industry often grapples with the challenge of maintaining optimal stock levels on shelves. Traditional methods rely heavily on manual monitoring, which can lead to human error and inefficiency, such as products running out without timely replenishment. Smart Shelf project introduces an innovative solution using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Intelligence (BI) to automate stock management and minimize errors. This system not only ensures shelves are consistently stocked but also predicts product consumption patterns to optimize inventory control.

Goals:

The primary goal of the Smart Shelf project is to develop a working Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that demonstrates core functionalities:

  • Real-Time Monitoring: The application tracks product consumption directly from the shelves, offering a real-time overview of stock levels.
  • Predictive Analytics: Utilizing AI, the system forecasts future product demands, ensuring efficient restocking and reducing the likelihood of stockouts.
  • Enhanced Decision-Making: With BI tools, the project aids in making informed decisions regarding inventory and sales strategies.

Tasks:

  1. Design a scalable Architecture solution.
  2. Develop a filtering option to identify "favorite" shelves.
  3. Implement a search feature to locate items by name or partial identifiers.
  4. Implement  the graphical presentation of statistics on daily, weekly, monthly and custom period  sales and stock levels.
  5. Implement photo uploads to be associated with specific shelves.
  6. Implement  Email and SMS alerts for immediate notifications based on leftover goods on the shelves.

Project Scope

The project scope was defined to create a scalable and flexible inventory management system tailored to the needs of offline retailers. The initial phase focused on developing a MVP to showcase the potential impact on retail operations.

Results

We have successfully achieved our objectives, culminating in the development of a robust Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with core functionalities, poised for client utilization.

During the product development phase, an exciting opportunity emerged: an order to design an automotive basket leveraging the Smart Shelf's functionality. This significant milestone underscores our innovative approach and adaptability. The automotive basket seamlessly integrates with our Smart Shelf technology, enabling real-time updates: when a customer selects a product from the shelf in-store, it instantaneously reflects in their mobile app basket. This transformative feature paves the way for unmanned checkout experiences in retail settings, marking a pivotal advancement in shopping convenience.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that our product has been selected for presentation at the prestigious conference in Switzerland. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to pioneering solutions that redefine industry standards and enhance customer experiences.
